Trimmed is an artistic exploration of topiary, blending history, sculpture, and design into a unique book format.
Trimmed is a project that emerged from a deep fascination with topiary, exploring it as an art form rather than solely a landscaping technique. This book compiles texts that discuss the origins of topiary and its relationship with both human and natural environments. It includes an interview with topiary artist Mike Gibson, whose insights served as inspiration for translating topiary into a book format. Each acetate page is case bound, naturally opening into a standing cylindrical shape. The use of acetate creates the illusion of sculptural form while referencing the "invisible" or ghost space that remains around topiary bushes after trimming. Additionally, 3D assets created in Blender transform mundane objects into topiary sculptures, further expanding the artistic exploration of the medium.
